I very strongly believe the future of the web is people taking back control their space rather than relying on the convenience of using the services of corporate structures.
These places time and time again have proven they do not have our interest at heart and exploit our desire for convenience for their gain.
We gotta flip the script and stop expecting places who have never had our interests in mind to change.
We can do better. We don't need them.

tech bros on twitter arguing against libraries in favour of "spotify for books" because authors/publishers (or rather VC investors) can't use libraries as their primary source of profit is just a perfect example of silicon valley's willful ignorance or complete contempt for the ideas of public service and the commons.
rather than everybody creating a public space and sharing resources they'd have us all completely separated and paying countless times over for the same thing.

I love the hypocrisy of Microzon Facegoopple and their ilk regarding #GDPR and similar regulations.
Corp: Selling user data is ok and users are perfectly fine with it, because they get their personalized ads. Precious precious personalized ads.
EU: Ok, then show them this information clearly and ask them for consent explicitly.
