also the mobile phones, they weren't even *that* bad, had decent cameras, and the supposed lack of apps wasn't an issue for business users who didn't need distractions (in fact there were good mapping and cycling apps!) but Redmond just walked away from the market after barely 4 years...
(Don't forget github is being sold because its losing money at the moment..)
On Birdsite, somebody asked why GitHub would change to the worse after the acquisition by Microsoft. This is what I answered:
Microsoft has a history of ruining innovative products by acquiring them. Remember Skype? It used to be innovative software. This may be due to incompetence. In other cases, Microsoft has intentionally damaged products by limiting their interoperability:
